Through the years Television has seemed to loose some of it’s morals. The differences in our comedies are a perfect example. The classic 50’s comedy I Love Lucy starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz was the number one comedy of its time. This show presents clean and timeless comedy that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Last Years number on comedy Two and a Half men is much less family oriented in the way it presents comedy. The show formally staring notorious bad boy Charlie Sheen and now Staring. The show is much more crude and every joke seems to have a sexual reference. It also has a lot of alchohol as well as drug references.

The difference in censorship between these two comedies show societies views of decency have changed. Back in the 50’s a man and a woman were not allowed to be filmed laying in the same bed together. If you look back at any of the I Love Lucy episodes, both Lucy and Ricky are not on the same bed unless one of them have atleast one foot on the floor. This continued until the cartoon the Flinstones had Fred and Wilma sharing their bed. Two and a half men on the otherhand seems to promote premarital sex.

Society has become more familar and comfortable with the thought of sex. Though I am not sure if exposing younger viewers to this is a good idea. Trash television such as teen mom, could be damaging and give younger viewers the wrong idea, which could lead to the issue of increase in unexpected pregnancy in the United States.

The references to alcohol and drugs in Two and a Half men could also promote underage drinking and the use of illegal substances. It always seems like the generation before us doesn’t find are crude sense of humor funny, and by the direction we are heading, I fear what the next 20 years of Television will bring.

ThoughRomney won in six of the 10 states on tuesday, he is far from getting to the White House.

On Super tuesday former Massachusetts Govenor, Mitt Romney won the most deligates in six states including Virginia, Vermont, Ohio, Massachusetts, Alaska, and Idaho. Rick Santom won in the states North Dakota, Tennesse, and Oklahoma. While Newt Gringrich only one in Georgia.

But what seems like a tremendous lead in States won is out weighed by the minor advance compared to the rest of the race. It was no suprise for Romney to win in the State he formerly governed aswell as the neighboring state of Vermont. He win in Virginia was a only against last place canadate Ron Paul.

Mitt Romney did however show super victory in the remaining three states he won in. But there is much more to this race and leads are gained in lost. Even with this “Super” win , he will start over again tomorrow.

Innovation of Email

In the current business worlds, the communication through email has become the standard. Every company uses email to communicate internally or within the company and externally or outside of the company. College and high school students are now given emails to communicate with teachers and other class mates. And most recently, email has gone mobile with access on cell phone which allows people to email from almost anywhere. So who is to thank for this now vital form of communication?

The answer is Ray Tomlinson.

In 1971 Ray Tomlinson, worked at BBN or Bolt Beranek and Newman, and was working with ARPANET had a program the he made which allowed people leave messages on a computer for other users of that computer to read. This system called SNDMSG had the issue that it was a local program. So messages could not be sent from place to place.

Tomlinson solved this problem with a file transfer protocol that he was working on called CYPNET. With this he adapted the SNDMSG program so it could send electronic messages to any computer on the ARPANET network. This was the creation of electronic mail. Along with the famous symbol @, which indicated the location of the computer on ARPANET system that  the message was supposed to be sent to.

Email has completely changed the way civilization does business and the way people communicate. Although it was originally intended for researches and government to transfer information, email has evolved into something for everyone. And a little food for thought, the average number of email sent per day is 294 billion.

Media has become one of the major ways of communication in society. Though changes of society are begining to cause failure throughout media. This includes advances in technology and businesses, as well as changes of human interest.

With the rise of the internet, media sources such as newspapers and magazines are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Newspaper companies are currently selling an outdated product containing information that can be provided instantly through the internet

The advances in the business world also have affected media. Big companies have become even bigger through the years and have more control in the media. This makes all the information provided by these corporate giants biased, and majority of the information we are given is filtered to benefit these companies.

The worst of all is the changes of human interest. Society have almost back tracked thier intellect by surrounding themselves with influences in trash TV. Rather than reading about what presidential canadates are trying to do to benefit our struggling country, my generation reads about what “Teen Mom is stressing out about. In fact im pretty sure if i asked who is running as a republican presidential canadate, majority of people my age would be clueless.

Media is a very important source of information and we are slowly destroying its value.

Influences of Televison

This is an example of a commercial that makes me want to be in advertisment. It is aVolkswagen commercial from last year.  Image from:http://geek-news.mtv.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/darth_ws_car1.jpg

In modern society, no home is complete with out a television. Television  has become an american pass time and as sad as it seems, brings families together. Though a specific TV show has never captivated me, Television has had a great influence on me. For some reason I have always been interested in commercials. I would  critque them and think of ways that they could have been better.

I guess it was a way to fuel my creativity. My parents always pegged me as an innovated thinker and also pointed out that I had fresh ideas for commercials. So if it was not for television, I may not have applied to Towson to obtain a Degree in Mass Communication for Advertisement.
